Which Station Wagon?

I am wondering which would be more reliable (of course assuming a mechanic checks it out and says everything is good)

(Prices for comparison I know they are expensive but just to compare bc I am just interested I would pay a lot less if I were to buy them... note I am in Caly)

2008 Subaru Outback 2.5 I4 160k miles (seperate analysis for 4 speed Automatic and for 5 speed manual)

    $6500

2008-2012 Volvo XC70 3.2 Non-Turbo 95k miles (6 speed Aisin) I like these ones a lot btw. (i see them with over 200k miles)

     $6500

Maybe: 2005 Volvo XC70 I5 (around 200-220k miles) 5 speed auto

$5000

Also I know Toyota or Honda is better but among these choises what could be a good city driver kind of car if taken care of etc.

I’d go with your 2nd option, after a mechanic checks it out.

Thanks!

XC70 less miles and much better vehicle overall for the same price of Subaru

Get the XC70. Safe car especially with with Aisin transmission, it is reliable too.

Of those choices, go for the Volvo XC70 with the 6 speed Aisin!  Try and go for a later year in that range, but otherwise they are good, solid vehicles and still look decent (in my opinion).  Very few issues reported especially on later years:

Thank you! I love how that generation looks as well.

How about a 97 Buick Roadmaster! What other station wagon comes with a 5.7L corvette engine! 😎

(and wood paneling)

If I bought a station wagon I'd want to be able to stick people in it facing backwards 🤣

Volvo, but again .going to suggest a honda fit.plenty of cargo room, reliable, good on gas, and pretty low maintenance

I always felt the 05-07  XC70's were the best. Last of the Swede builds. Owned several older volvos and with very good love and care they can last forever and are extremely safe. The 05 for $5k is waaaayy over priced. If super maintained its probably worth like $3k tops.
