Hello. I have a 2014 F150 with a 5.0 V8 automatic with about 160000 miles. Generally she runs fine, but sometimes it dies when we come to a stop at a light or stop sign. This is pretty rare, it happens maybe several times a year at most, always when slowing to a stop in drive. Any ideas as to what may be causing this? Thanks for your time.
Many things can cause random issues like this.. a weak fuel pump, vacuum leak or dirty injectors. You need scan it for any codes and do some basic troubleshooting first.sometimes it dies when we come to a stop at a light or stop sign.
@hixster fair enough, i have scanned for codes, the only thing I've ever gotten was running rich. I've run fuel injector cleaner through since and that went away. Sounds like maybe a fuel injector issue?
@thewhitemorpheus with 160k miles the injectors are probably a little dirty. Since you have no codes and using some fuel injector cleaner has helped then it's reasonable to assume your injectors are suspect but that doesn't men they need replaced. Unless the stalling continues or gets worse, I'd just add bottle of Techron every couple of months. If you want a serious pour in fuel injector cleaner, Scotty has used the following injector cleaner with impressive results: https://www.amazon.com/ATS-Chemical-System-Treatment-ounces/dp/B0CY8ZQ1X4/
