1993 volvo 940 wagon 2.3 automatic. Non turbo version. 245K miles. Sometimes the car doesn't start sometimes it does. It has spark, i can hear the fuel pump. Today I realized that when it has issues starting, if i take the fuel pump relay out and then put it back in, it starts right up. Should I replace the relay or do you think the issue is elsewhere. Alternator belt looks a little loose but I think that's unrelated.
The problem sounds electrical, sometimes the terminal on the fuel pump connector and relays corrode. Check the terminals for corrosion they should look sorta white and flaky. Try giving the terminals a good scrape so that they get good contact, this may be a temporary fix in the long run you might want to replace it.
Thanks a lot, where would I find these terminals
fuel pump is normally under your boot or rear seat. Check youtube for a video for your model.
