Hello scotty, first let me say how much I and my family love watching your videos, your the best YouTube Mechanic ever!! My question is....... I have a 1999 honda crv with 400.0065 miles, it was running great, until the other day idling at a light went.to go and took my foot off the break, touched the gas pedal, started to move forward and it cut out, dead in the middle of the intersection. Got off road, did some research, checked #9 fuse, ok there. Went to main relay, didn't start, had it towed home. First thing I replaced was distributor cap, rotor, wires and plugs. I was getting good spark from coil, but nothing through rotor, cap and wires. Bypassed crank sensor. I do have spark now to the plugs, it is yellow, not blue. I've tried starting fluid, it won't even give me a pop, nothing. There is no check engine light.. The only 2 things I can imagine would be the faulty ignition switch or the distributor itself, what do you think?? 🤔 with the gas prices I need this vechicle!! Thank you, Pete from Michigan.
Is your fuel pump working? Fuel filter clogged? Did your timing belt break?
It seems to be pumping fuel, I smell gas, I tried spraying started fluid and no response and I have good compression.
If the engine is OK and it won't fire up on starting fluid either there is no fuel, no spark or maybe the spark is way out of time. It doesn't take much at all to ignite starting fluid, that's its purpose.
If the cylinders have been fed fuel without ignition the spark plugs should be wet with gasoline.
