Will a little plastic in a manual transmission do damage?

Hey Scotty,

I messed up the transmission fluid change in my 2005 Pontiac Vibe with a standard transmission.

One of the plastic tangs on the pump I used broke off inside the gearbox. I am going to drain and fill the transmission again after driving it 100 miles. I am hoping the gears grind the plastic into little pieces that will come out with the fluid.

How much will the plastic reduce the life of the transmission?

This is the pump I used.

Also, keep doing what you do forever. 😀

Hopefully, whatever is left of it will drain out.

Probably would have been better to try getting it out in one piece before driving. Hopefully if it got chewed up the plastic bits won't get into bearings and cause problems.
