I have been receiving quotes for up to $400 different from one glass replacement company to another. Some mention moldings, noise reduction, and other items in the quote that add onto to the cost. Any advice is appreciated with the extras are needed. Thanks.
I find that when I need glass or body work done, it's best to call my insurance agent's office and ask who they use. They deal with this every day, so they should give you a name of a competent, trustworthy and reasonably priced shop, and they'll be happy to if you are paying for it yourself!
The replacement glass companies that advertise on TV charge a lot more than independent shops - and they train their staff in what is called "up-selling", just like dealerships and chain auto repair shops. This is why they try to sell you stuff that you don't need but is very profitable. I know because I have written a lot of sales training (for other kinds of businesses) and know it when I see it.
Just install the windshield and use a quality one.
So what is your question? Don't get suckered into extras, just replace the windshield.
No extras are needed unless you want to waste your money.
My insurance does not pay for windshield replacement. Many of the independent places varied in price up to $300 dollars. The national company charged the most with the $400 difference.
