I have no idea how this happened but hear goes. I’ve got a 2011 GMC Terrain and while warming up the vehicle I turned on the windshield washer to clean the windshield. The left blade wouldn’t move but the right side worked fine. I got out and took a look, there was no damage on the outside I could see, and I was able to move the arm back and forth against the windshield. I know that’s not supposed to happen because the wipers are locked down when not in use. Has this happened to any of you, and what would be a possible fix? Any and all info is appreciated.

Generally that’s 1 of 3 things either the nut that holds the wiper arm down came loose or the splines stripped out the arm tightens down on and lastly the linkage popped off the pivot to that arm. Easiest thing to check is to take the cap off that arms not and move the wiper and see if the stud turns with it or not
