My 1982 ford f150 wont stay on unless i give it gas but if i put in the choke closed it does stay on and idk if its ok if i leave it the choke closed

It sounds like the float needle in the carb is sticking closed. You probably need to remove and rebuild the carb.

Sounds like a big vaccum leak to me. When its warm, if you pull a full choke it cuts of a massive amount of air. So if it runs actually better on full choke, sounds like a blown carburetor gasket on the manifold or a power breake hose thats cracked or split letting in massive amounts of air.
