Hello. I have two Honda Civics I was looking at purchasing. The first one is from a BMW dealership. No warranty, but good Carfax report. The second Honda Civic is a bit more money, but also it's certified used from a Honda Dealership and it's a bit nicer overall and Cargurus says it's a better deal. I've heard the newer ones have oil dilution problems, but I live in the south so I'm not as vulnerable to oil dilution as cold climates are. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
Have it checked out by an honest independent mechanic.
Test drive both, then have your own mechanic check the one you like better.
Ask the right questions like any undeclared fees and if they would have any warranty on it. You'll always get the best deal with Private sellers as they sometimes would be willing to lower prices. Dealerships and used car lots will not lower their prices. Remember any cars user or new are at a premium right now.
I would never buy anything from any dealer anywhere at any time.

I found this online, but I'm not sure whether it's a scam or not. Any good tips on private sales?
While I agree, but unfortunately, it’s not always possible to do that. I got my last truck from a dealer many years ago because I could not find one exactly like that through private ownership listings.
True.
I personally prefer the look of the 2012. Get which ever one is in the best condition at the best price.
