- I've got a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT 3.0 RWD Automatic (5R44E) transmission. Original transmission, engine, drive shaft, and differential and just passed 214K miles. Engine still runs like a charm, oil changed every 6-6.5k miles using K&N Gold filter and full synthetic high mileage oil. If I hit the gas hard very suddenly, the vehicle will shudder a bit, RPMs ~4.5k. I've swapped the transmission filter and put in new Mercon V ATF synthetic fluid. Issue persists, though not quite as bad. Would you suggest trying the Lucas Automatic Transmission additive while I get together the funds to replace the transmission?

sounds like you don't need any additives if you just don't "hit the gas hard very suddenly".
Go easy on 'er
