| I started out with a hand me down 2001 plymouth neon. The transmission went out at 70k miles while climbing a hill. Weak transmission and hilly San Francisco 🤣. I did find the driver seat to be the most comfortable even today. My toyota prius seats are very uncomfortable for big guy like me. | |||||

| I feel so bad for you, man. I would've paid her for the car if I did that many mods and repairs to my 81' mustang. Anyway, cool story and thanks for sharing! | |||||

| ... so what could I really screw up, right? Learned to drive a standard in it. Rode with my Dad and he stopped in the middle of a busy intersection, got out with everyone honking, had me get in the drivers seat, and said, "You better figure out how to move this thing before they kill us." Well, that did the trick let me tell you. Fast forward a bit: got the car sanded down, repaired the floor board, took care of the rust issues, replaced the clutch, got it driving good. I learned to get really good at the manual because we had a utility easement by ou ... | |||||

| Mine was an '83 Pontiac 6000LE 2door, with a 2.2L 4 cyl. I got it for $375 and drive it all over NYS. I had BOCES (a state highschool program to teach mechanics to seniors) do work on it with replacing shocks, struts, and coil springs. It was pretty dependable until one trip away, it literally blew a hole in the radiator one day, and since then it never ran right. I eventually got a different car and gave it to my brother, who drove it until one of the spark plugs blew out the hood of the car. | |||||

| My first car was a yellow 1976 Chevrolet Chevette with a three speed auto, I would lose drag races with bicycles with that junk heap. I told everyone I owned a ‘Vette, no one believed me for one second. I really stepped up n the automotive world when I got my first Chrysler K car. | |||||

| 1965 Rambler Classic station wagon with a six cylinder engine and automatic transmission. The thing about those old Ramblers is they had reclining front seats that turned into beds. As if that wan't enough, with the wagons if the back seat was folded down as well the entire inside of the car became pretty much a single flat surface inside. 'Nuff said! 😉 | |||||

| Answer to: What car should i choose as my first car? | 6Relevance | 5 years ago | OldRangerNut | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Start with the 3 C's: Condition, condition, condition. Have them checked by a professional, honest mechanic. Get a written condition report ( a professional mechanic can provide such a report automatically), and sometimes the best choice is obvious just from a condition report. Then consider smog/registration/title status, smog and registration must be current, title must be clean. Not salvage, preferably not with a lien holder. Consider price, market value, expected annual maintenance/repair costs, insurance costs, (the list goes on). The last thing to consider are your personal preferences: Vehicle size, comfort, color, features, etc. At this point make the choice, use the vehicle, and move on | |||||

| Hello, I'm a 18 year old male from Romania and I'm thinking about what car should I buy as my first car. I can buy a Toyota Celica 1997 1.6 Petrol or a Hyundai Accent 2006/2007. My dad keeps bugging me about the Celica, he says that the car is too long for a beginner and that I drive it in a busy city, so it would be hard for me to drive. Also, he is saying that the parts would be a problem because its and old car. I dont know what counter argument to say to him. In his eyes, the Hyundai Accennt is by far better, its shorter than the Celica, also the Hyundai ... | |||||

| A lot depends on your definition of "classic". The rule of thumb used to be a classic car was one at least 25 years old. These days a 25 year-old car is going to have fuel injection, disc brakes, 3-point belts, air bags, catalytic converters, crumple zones, etc. (I daily drive a 24 year-old vehicle and I'm on the road a lot.) If you're talking about cars from 50-60 years ago or more that's a different story entirely. | |||||
