Considering buying an 01 lexus rx300 with the v6. The car is in amazing shape and only 75k on the odometer. Im a honda guy and know nothing about a lexus. Are these solid vehicles or should i stay away?
I bought a 2003 RX300 for my grandson, it had 170,000 miles on it. One owner, serviced regularly at the dealership. He sold it because the knock sensors needed replacing. That is a common issue on these vehicles and requires removing the intake manifold. Also, these engines have timing belts, at 75K you are about due. Other than these somewhat costly issues and the fact that Lexus parts are usually overpriced, the RX300 should be very dependable. Good luck.
That depends on how it's been maintained over the last 21 years.
Lexus is Toyota luxury devision so as far as quality they're pretty good. But do keep in mind that it's a 21 year old car so it might not be the best option for lengthy driving, but if for regular daily driving it can be a good car if your mechanic check's it.
Since Lexus is a Toyota product, I don't even bother going to Lexus for parts due to the mark-up and availability. Most part numbers are the same, so to keep it maintained I go to my local Toyota dealer for parts. Being 21 yrs. old have it checked out before buying it as there's a lot of unknowns.
