They are not good cars. We owned a 2004 with the V8 and though it was fun to drive back then, they fall apart with time. Buying one today would be buying a headache.

Yes previous response is correct, let me ad. It's a Lincoln la crap drive line. O2 has issues with leaks, cooling fan runs by hydraulic pressure, it has separate fuel tanks if I remember, one gets low and the pumps fuel into main tank. Expensive dump set up. Nice drivers but run away.

Don't buy a thunderbird, especially that gen, cuz they had a lot of problems and they just didn't hold up very well. I would probably get him to consider a Toyota Solara V6 if he wants a convertible and decent power. 

To agree with everyone else, they are pure junk.
