Topic starter

Recently changed fuel filter, cleaned fuses and put dielectric grease on them, sprayed electric cleaner in fuse box, and cleaned inside distributor cap, and put dielectric grease on pins, and then it started.
Yet it was afternoon by then.

Seems to have trouble starting at first, almost everytime in the morning, for the past few months, but once it starts once, then it starts right up for the rest of the day.

How's the battery looking? What about the starter? Are there any codes for any sensors or what not?

Does this problem happen only when the engine is cold? If youve done the filter & the pump is okay, could be dirty/bad injectors if its struggling to get fuel. Cars run rich when they cold start. Does it run okay on the highway (high speeds/high loads)? If so then that rules out my theory.

could be moisture infiltration (rain, condensation etc)
Also plug wires may need replacing

measure:

  1. battery voltage
  2. fuel pressure

You can also talk to other Astro owners with years of experience on chevygmcvans.com and they'll be happy to help you out.
