I have a 2004 Chevy avalanche 1500 2wd with 295k miles. The truck runs good no engine lights, no burning oil, transmission shifts good. When i start the truck i let it idle up to temp for a few minutes before driving. The truck always idles fine in park with no rpm fluctuations. After getting to the first light in my drive maybe about a quarter mile down the road the truck doesn’t give full power after accelerating from the light. The rpm’s will go to about 2500 then drop to 500-700 for a few seconds then jump back up to normal. it will be fine for the rest of my commute and not do it again. Any ideas what it could be?
battery light came on the dash.
get your alternator load tested
Sure, seems like your transmission is starting to where we just typical on those Chevys. That's the weakest point
I forgot to add that the A/C and radio also get reduced power when this happens. The truck shut off at the a few days ago and the battery light came on the dash.
