Hi, I have a friend in KY who is sort of isolated. They been working on an '05 Buick Rendezvous 6 cyl 2 WD CLX. with 200,000 miles. Lights, windows, all electric is working. They said when they turn the key over, they hear CLUNK. They also said they saw that the battery cables were not on all the way, a bad connection. He thinks there's something with the fly wheel. Anyone know if the fly wheel is accessible? If so, what wrench? They were able to drive it some, but it would leave them stranded. Any Hope? Asking for a friend. LOVE MY CIVIC.
Have them try to turn the engine over by hand using a big wrench or socket on the vibration damper crankshaft bolt. If they cannot turn it over by hand the engine is locked up. If the engine turns OK battery, cables, and starter would be the primary suspects.
To access the flywheel the transmission has to come out. About the only issue there though would be if teeth were broken off the flywheel and in that case the starter would spin freely rather than clunking and stopping.
@chucktobias Thank you
