hey scotty I have an 05 grand marquis ultimate edition 115,000 miles. it stopped on me because I needed an alternator. A friend came and pulled my car with a chain by wrapping it around the front bumper however he went around the wiring harness that is behind the front bumper and split some wires. the car sat. I replaced the alternator and reconnected the split wires. before I reconnect the wires and replaced the alternator the car wouldn't do anything g as soon as I reconnected the wires the car started right up. the next morning it started right up. I let it run for about 7min and started driving it to get some gas in it. as u was driving it stalled out on me and would not turn over. I got it towed professionally to a shop and they told me the fuel pump won't come on and that u need a fuel pump assembly. I got that, well come to find out they pulled there meter in the car. the car won't give them anything, won't turn over, they can't read any codes nothing. they Saud it is something wrong with my computer. so I am trying to figure out what to do now. can you help me? I don't know what to do.

Thanks for your consideration!

Okay so let me ask you this.

Scotty does not generally revisit topics he has already answered.

More diagnosis should be done, randomly replacing parts rarely works. You need a shop that specializes in modern car electrical systems and is equipped with a professional all-systems scan tool.

Well, if he was dumb enough to wrap chains around a wire, all bets are off. Because all the wiring eventually goes back to the computers and it could have shorted a computer circuit out. If the guy who looked at it said there's something wrong in the computer system. I would guess that's what happened and you would also have to check the wiring because if it's got a problem now where it's shorting out. If you replace the computer without fixing the wiring it will ruin the new one too

@scottykilmer Okay so let me ask you this. I went in and reconnected the wires we seen thT were disconnected. So is it safe to say that I need another computer module? And my other question is what type of shop should I take it to if a y at all, that deals with electrical on a car? I would hate to take it to the dealership, I know would cost me a arm, leg, and maybe a toe.lol. what do you suggest I do? I don't think he seen the wire harness behind the mainfram of the bumper. Is that a harness that can be replaced? If so what would it be called?
