Good Morning. Wanted to hopefully get your advise on our 2005 Lexus Rx330, with 209000 miles, automatic, V-6. We bought it used but ever since we bought it we have replaced the front o2 sensor, the front right elbow joint, put new tires on it, replaced the front firewall side cadillac converter. Now the fromt ball joints are going bad and the alternator just went out last night. Is this normal for a Lexus? What other issues will it might have? Will it be a safe car for my family to ride in after spending more money to fix these issues? Were thinking of just taking a lose and selling it! But thinking it will be great and a safe car for my wife and kids after we get everything fixed!? What are your thoughts? I appreciate your time, thank you!
Did you have the car checked out by a professional mechanic, before you purchased it? Any car (even a Lexus) if not well maintained, can become a money pit if the previous owner/s neglected the scheduled maintenance or beat the heck out of the car.
Lexus vehicles though rarely break, cost a lot to repair. In your case, the suspension & front end parts are all wear & tear items which are due for replacement on any 16yr old, high mileage vehicle. Hardly a reason to sell her, if the engine & transmission still work well.
I would keep fixing any wear & tear items when they broke, but wouldn’t sell the car unless something major went out.
Every vehicle needs some TLC after all, especially at that age.
