Hi, i was woundering about cars coolant and can i fill it myself?
And is it that the coolant comes in green and redish color only?
And is it so that if the car has that redish looking coolant color then u add more of that redish color coolant?
Green and red color coolant could not be mixed together right? Only that same color coolant?
Hi @cars, I suggest you read this first before proceeding further - https://carkiller.com/scottykilmer/qa/read-this-first/#post-46150
Before answers I would like to say, all of these can be found with a google. That being said, happy you would like to know more about cars, cars. Seems like you don't want to read google so here. And as a mod already said, consider this a one time question and answer. We love to help people here and that's no problem but the questions you are asking are way to basic, again can be done with a google.
1. Yes... but why do you need to know this right now? I'm assuming that you are assuming coolant issue and not power steering which can also be red color fluid.
2. No, there are many colors, red, blue, green, yellow, orange, and purple off the top of my head.
3 & 4. Of course if liquid is leaking out then you would want to find where it is coming from and then instead of just continuing to refill (short term to very short term solution) find the leak and fix it. The reason colors can't mix is that though short term, again, it can cause sludge which is not good for something ment to keep temperature in check. Considering you do not know the basics I highly recommend you take it to a mechanic near you asap.
Your car requires a specific kind of coolant. It’s usually colored.
When in doubt, go to the dealer parts and get OEM coolant. When you learn a little more, you will be able to choose the equivalent coolant for your car from almost any auto parts store.
Most cars, it’s not too hard to add coolant. Just make sure the engine is not boiling hot because that stuff can splash all over the place and burn you if hot.

Absolutely. It's very easy

Coolant comes in a whole rainbow of colors. It's just dye that's added for easy identification.
And is it so that if the car has that redish looking coolant color then u add more of that redish color coolant?
Exactly. Hopefully, what you have is the same as what your manufacturer recommends. (owner's manual)

You should not mix coolant types. (silicate or IAT, OAT, and HOAT). The color should give you a pretty good hint. (why they made it the same color as rust is beyond me)
