Hi Scotty. My back window shattered on my 05 Sequoia and now I can't get my hatch open. There is glass everywhere inside the hatch compartment as the window was halfway down when the winow shattered. I cleaned up most of it. The lock actuator still works. I got the trim pieces off, removed the entire window moter assembly and window arms to get to the actuator/hatch release assembly. I found the unlock bar/button and it goes from lock to unlock up and down. The flat piece/bar moves back and forth that the cable attaches to open it but the hatch still won't open. What can I do?
I don't know if it helps but here is an exploded diagram of the hatch mechanism from the repair manual at charm.li. It does look like the control cable going to the lock assembly has to be properly manipulated to release the latch. Hopefully it is not broken internally since it appears that accessing the bolts holding it in place require the hatch to be open.
