‘05 Volkswagen Golf high pitched noise

Hey so my ‘05 VW Golf GLS (manual, 91000 miles, 2.0 gas engine) is making a high pitched noise when I start it and it is cold or wet.  My initial thought is some kind of belt.  Usually after driving for awhile it gets better but I’m noticing that it has gotten worse lately.  Any clue as to what it could be?

And another thing, I’ve put quite a bit of money into this car for one thing or another in the past year (namely bad exhaust, a door that won’t open right, horn stopped working, driver door lock doesn’t work etc) is it worth looking for a new car and selling it or would this be worth keeping around after all of this is done?

You should pinpoint the noise first. If you guess it comes from the fan belt, spray some star on the belt. If the noise stopped/changed, change the belt.

About your other question (sell or keep the car), I don’t think you can get much for your car, do drive it until the wheels fall off.
