I have an '07 Nissan Pathfinder and the transmission started slipping terribly yesterday. I added a half a quart and checked the level and the fluid seems like it has metal flakes in it. I checked it again today and it seemed over filled. I do have an engine error code on, so I will attempt to get that checked, but other than that, would draining and refilling to proper level possibly fix? I have a quart of the lucas slipping transmission fix as well. Is there anything else I can do to possibly make it work? Thank you in advance for any help.
Mileage?
Follow up to this, I replaced the old valve body with a rebuilt one and it seems to be shifting fine.
You have metal shave in the fluid and it is not a good sign. You can drain the old fluid but keep it in a clean container just in case the new fluid results in more issues. Other than adding Lucas, you may need to rebuild the transmission which in your case, it does not worth it.
