CC quit working after a 40 mile trip. Worked fine going. Not so returning. Cruise light comes on at dash but nothing happens. Car is a
5 spd. with 242,500 miles. Not scanned. Worked perfect prior to not working. Thanks, Mark
Cruise control can be a pain, like Scotty said.
I would try checking for any brake issues, like making sure the brake lights are working. The cruise control is tied in with the braking system so when you hit the brakes, it disengages.
I have even had LED lights cause my cruise control not to set.
It may take some time and testing, but hopefully it isn't anything too serious.
Sadly those cruise control systems are all computer driven. There's nothing you can really check yourself other than make sure all the wires are plugged in. It obviously is power cuz the light comes on. From my experience it's usually the control module that goes bad on those things and that's not an easy fix
