Hi ... I have 07 2nd gen Prius with 280,000 miles (x taxi) its been a great car even with the high mileage the only down fall is when I go and gas up it takes varies the amount to fill . l've heard it is because of the bladder in the tank ,I've looked it up and tried the different methods that were posted, but nothing seems to be consistent .Do you have any suggestions ? Thx
Seems like an inherent design flaw.
If it's just a minor annoyance I would ignore it and live with it.
@kaizen has a Prius maybe he knows something
there are some tips, like don't let the tank get too low, and allow the bladder to relax a bit after opening before you fill. No 100% fixes though. People just seem to live with it.
I have a second gen Prius. I have experienced a similar phenomena but it’s not consistent.
If I go get Costco gas, the Prius usually fills up fine.
But if I go to places like Pilot or Arco, it always gets stuck lower than the full tank.
It could be coincidence. Or it it could be a design flaw.
Perhaps try a different gas station. See if anything changes.
That is interesting. Does the costco pumps fill slower or something?
Or faster? I really don’t know. Or maybe less sensitive stop sensors.
Thx for the input , It was once suggested that when I gas up to take of gas cap and and wait a bit check oil ,etc. to allow for the bladder to expand It seems to help to a degree
