How often should I change my oil

Hi,

I am located at CA and own a 07 Tundra 4.7 engine with 100k miles.  With gas price so expensive here and own 2 other cars.  I only drive this truck about 1000 miles in one year.  Toyota recommends oil change in every 5000 miles or 6 months whichever comes first. When should I change the engine oil? Also, should I replace the coolant and thermostat as preventive maintenance?

Thanks,

Have you done your timing belt? If not, at 16 years and 100k miles it is due.

If you do the timing belt, you can knock out the thermostat and coolant change at the same time, with little or no extra labor cost.

Once a year for oil changes is fine.

Thank you
