Scotty and Scotty community I have an 08 Cadillac Escalade (6L80, 6 speed). I think the transmission is slipping from 1st to 2nd gear. It gives me a harsh lurching when driving in the city like at a stop light or stop signs. Going in reverse is fine and stoping/slowing down is fine. I have videos of me slowly, moderately, hard of opening the throttle. I will provide a link if anyone is interested. It goes to the video on YouTube on my channel.

177k miles...definitely sounds like it is slipping to me.
Should I see how much the cost is to repair it or let it die?
You can get a quote but it's probably going to be more than you want to spend.
Yeah sure seems like it's slipping and that's the gear that goes out first cuz it's got a big strain. That's one reason I tell people not to buy those big old Cadillacs cuz they don't make them like they used to they weigh a lot and man it cost a lot of money to repair that transmission or replace it. You 'have to decide if you want to put that kind of money in her just get rid of it and get something else now
Thanks Scotty, I think I’ll look into the cost to how much the vehicle is worth and determine how much life is left to make a final decision.
