My malibu has a sound almost a clunking noise but doesn't sound like metal on metal coming from the rear driver wheel/ suspension. mainly happens when taking off from a stop or slowing down to park. this maybe because it's quite enough to hear it any thoughts?
To check for problems with either the wheel bearing or a shock strut mount that can clonk when worn. Also check for any loose exhaust hangers which when you take off the exhaust will move and hit the body of the car

I checked the exhaust last night and nothing. It could be the shocks they seemed fine from what I saw. Its a hollow rattling sound and its constant when driving. If not the shocks any other suggestions? I've seen on othe forums people mention rear trailing arms.
