Scotty, I've got 180,000 on 09 Jeep liberty sport. It was a bad buy from the start. But most of the notorious problems have been Fixed rebuilt trans new tipm ect. When I had it under a lift. I noticed the pinion seal was leaking. I took it to a local shop paid them to replace it also had rear diff serviced for maintenance. They never put seal in right. Took it back haggled with them. Showed them it was leaking. They replaced it 3 times still leaked. Then they said pinion bearings needed replaced. Then they called me told me they weren't going to charge me for pinion bearing replacement, now it growls when I let off the accelerator. What the heck. Can I sue them for causing my Rear diff to go out for not replacing pinion seal correctly. I'm in Michigan. Please Help!!!

The problem with pinion gears and seals is that replacing them requires that the correct shims, crush sleeve and break away torque setting have to be very precise or there will be problems, as you now know.  A driveline specialty shop should be able to help you but your everyday wrench doesn't have the skills and experience to do this job correctly.

They obviously screwed up the whole job I would go somewhere else and send them the bill and probably hire a lawyer they screwed everything up
