Hello Scotty, I have the opportunity to buy a 94 Toyota Tacoma V6. The truck has a rebuilt tranny and new off-road tires on it. The only issue with the truck is the engine has a blown block. Would it be worth paying the $1,000 for this truck and getting a rebuilt engine for it? My girlfriend's sister is selling the truck and her father had the tranny rebuilt. Also if you do recommend a rebuilt or remanufactured engine where would be a good place to go for that? Thank you.
If you don't know where to even find a refirb engine, I suggest you stay away from this deal. It is a deal, but if you have no clue where to start, this project is probably not right for you. No offense. If you do decide to proceed, idk who rebuilt the trans, was the guy reputable? Have you gone done the research? They don't make these engines no more so no more remans. Just OE and rebuilts. You can start as simple as EBay motors and see what your motor is going for there, it will give you a good idea of a baseline you would need... If you don't do the work yourself and are planning on giving this to a shop though, they can pick all this stuff out for you, granted it's going to add thousands to the cost.
