I just found something that bears mentioning ...
I scrolled back through the list of questions, and EVERY SINGLE QUESTION for the past week has been answered. (maybe longer. I stopped there). That is awesome! So even with 10k members, we are managing to keep up and help everyone. Good job everybody. Thank you for the answers, and keep up the great work.
What an achievment thanks to everyone that is helping whether they have 2000 posts, 50 posts, a life of experience, or is a researching student, all I want to say is , Thank you! Helping during these hard times are important. We are also nearing 10,000 questions on the site, which is a marvel to see how many people have been helped with their questions.
And thanks for that... was on my list of to do's! A very important mod responsibility imo for the purpose of getting help to folks. Sometimes in the past I would find them and would just bump to top if I didn't have a good response/knowledge on question.
it is also a competitive environment as passing Joe would be on the back of, but still on, my priority list.

I leave plenty of questions for others. If you know a lot about imports, then that's your edge.
Joe deserves to be at the top i was jk. But maybe... I spend all day here. Plus, I am literally the only person with this many posts who is not a moderator so that gives me something to cry about. How did you guys even become moderators? Did you "apply" or something?

I am a student and do not own a car but man do I do reseach and all that I say is from research and using basic brains. I am not really a domestic brand guy but when it comes down to the Asian brands, here is the guy for it.

Glad to hear about young men helping others and learning with open mind. If I may add something for you to consider, don't be looking for rewards as real ones will come because you do the "right" thing. Of course situation dictates to a degree. And fvi, I never asked to be a mod and replied to those that asked, "just answer questions you can answer" because it's only about helping them... not our egos. I can't tell you the # times I made/changed peoples job titles to make them happy with no other changes in their work. Phycology is a funny thing.

I think you need to buy/own/drive a car for a while before moderating on a car forum and giving advice. Internet experience doesn't really count.

Congratulations! And it's sure to get bigger. It is such a unique resource - where else are you going to get realtime advice from real people on fixing and maintaining your own car.
The only downside is the "What is more reliable, a new Toyota Corolla or a 2006 Kia Rio with a bad ECU?" questions. Some are obviously legit, but some seem like they are just a joke to try to get a rise out of Scotty

How do you know the exact number of members? The only way I see is that on the "members" page there is 50 people for 200 pages which makes 10 thousand people but is there another way to see the exact count without counting them all?

That's an average of 1 question per member. Many people post more than once. Especially mods and other 'residents' who help out.
I guess that means a fair number of people just lurk and watch, without posting anything.
