How do I replace my gas cap

Hi,

I went to Auto-zone and asks them to help me do a free diagnostic check on my car because the pop engine light was on.  They mentioned the result is a loose gas cap that needs replacing. Is changing the gas cap a diy task base on watching online videos for this vehicle and other honda models?

What code did you get?

Often times, the gas cap is one of the culprits depending on the code.

While gas caps are cheap, and DIY friendly, it helps to know the code to see if it indeed the reason of the code.

I forget actually.

Replacing a gas cap is quite obviously a delicate and complex task requiring an expert technician and professional-grade equipment.

Sometimes I don't screw it in enough, and let it click a few times. It will sometimes trip a code, just happened the day after I got fuel this week. I cleared the code with a scan tool, screwed the cap back on tight, and haven't had any trouble in days. It also seems like the cold may do something, like it is warmer when I screw on the cap after getting fuel, them the temperature drops, and  the cap loosens a bit, enough to leak and trip the code.

Gas caps are cheap, you can try that, but might want to just screw it back on good and tight, and clear the code if you have a scan tool, if not, get a scan tool.
