Got a 13 avalon v6 and wondering what the likely culprit for it to make a slight tapping noise when accelerating when cold, goes away after a min or so. Seen some stuff about them having an issue with the exhaust valves or something with the vet.
Thanks...
Just means the engine is starting to wear out nothing you can do unless you want to spend a few grand getting the valves adjusted.
- I had just seen some things about the vvt gears having some issue, the noise seemed premature given car only has 95k miles and has been maintained meticulously...given my 13 accord v6 has over 210k and is quiet as it was when I bought it new.
Make sure you are using the right weight and type of oil. Also run some fuel injector cleaner through the gas tank. Wait until you have a quarter tank of fuel add a bottle of cleaner and drive it until close to empty. If those two things don't help I would take it to a good mechanic and have them run a diagnostic on the engine.
VVT on those things is a weak point. Take it to a mechanic to check its conditions, although it does not worth rebuild the engine, maybe you better off buying a used engine from a junkyard.
