Hey Scotty,

We were recently looking into getting a 3rd Volvo for our collection and on our list is the 2010-14 XC90 and 2017 XC60 both in front wheel drive. Are either a good buy or should we steer away from them?

Thank you so much for all your help! We are most likely going with one of the drive-e xc60s and we actually have a c70 which is the big convertible brother to the c30 but I have to say that thing is an absolute gem and so much fun to drive and I would def go for that c30 and we have put roughly 20k on it and only had to do routine maintenance.

If your collecting the car that's an entire world of a difference between daily driving it. Both of those cars are too new to be collectors items but as a collector its gonna come down to what you like not what we like. I couldn't tell you what to add next because it all going to be your personal preference. GL with the collection

I would personally go for the XC70 instead of the XC90 or XC60, as you still get the winter capability, and I think that's just a better made Volvo than the 60 or 90.  However, If you really like the XC60, just be careful with that city safety system as I have heard about incidences where they can speed up or stop the car when nothing is in front of them.  In addition, due to the city safety, windshield replacements are gong to be more costly (as Scotty has mentioned in one of his videos).  Also watch out for fuel pump issues.  Other than that XC60 is okay.  If you want to get the XC90, please for the love of all that is holy, DO NOT BUY THE V8 or T6!  The v8 and t6 are known to have a leak in the sunroof that causes the computer to short out and cause serious issues.  If you want to get the XC90 get the 3.2, those are much better made.

Bottom line:

- If you want a large 3-row, get the XC90 3.2

- If you don't need 3-rows but want SUV ride hight, get the XC60 3.2 (be careful of City Safety) (I'm not sure how comfortable you are with "autonomous" safety feature controlling the car)

- If you just simply want the winter capability and room to put stuff, take a look at the XC70

Hope this helps.

In addition, please tell me how you like your C30, I'm considering one as we speak

They are ok but don't pay too much as a few years late Volvo won't even be producing any gasoline vehicles.

Maintain it and for 130 150k miles they can be ok the xc70s are the best i see them with like 250k miles still going strong. The biggest issue is that the xc60 and xc90 eat through tires.

Oh the collection was more of a joke as we already have a C70 and an S70 but this 3rd one would be our winter driver
