Just recently came across a 69 Impala 4 door sedan. The front clip is off of it, the original 327 is completely torn down, all new parts to put it back together. It’s in a good position for a frame up resto. Everything is there. Previous owner already replaced entire passenger side floor front and back. Rest of it surprisingly is solid, no weight loss program, frame is rust free. So I’m shopping parts, setting a budget etc.. the Cowl tag has body paint code of 59-s which is Frost Lime with a vinyl top. But no where on any site or database I look at can I find a way to figure out what color the vinyl top was. I wanna go back original, my choices Are 6 possible color tops that year, with black, dark tan and midnight green being my obvious choices. Interior is green and black. Do you know where I might find a site that gives more detailed information for the cowl tag? I’ve tried all the obvious sites. Also if you have any trusted sources for new chrome trim, interior panels, seat foam and covers that would help to. Thanks!
Where does the cowl tag say it was made? GM, body by Fisher or was it made in Canada?
Hope your cowl tag looks like one of these 69 tags...Hope this helps....shows where the upper body color or fabric on the right side of the tags
Its the Body by fisher tag. In the bdy pnt all I have is 59-S which is Frost Lime with Vinyl top. No code for the top color.
I found this...Might be useful...So I think for yours it's the S part of your cowl tag (59-S) code for 1969 which is Green.
Oh you’re awesome! Where did you find that?
This is kinda what she will look like eventually. Except mines a 4 door sedan. Really looking forward to the work. Haven’t done a resto since 94.
