Scotty, I had a 1977 Toyota Celica GT that would occasionally blow out both headlights when turning the lights on after starting the car. I was never able to figure out why this happened and was wondering if you have any thoughts.

You have electric short on the headlight circuit. Finding that can be a headache.

If the headlights don't blow out if you just turn them on WITHOUT running the engine, then Joe has the answer - voltage regulator.
