1985 Mustang Brake Lights not working

Hello everyone, I hope someone can help me with this but about 5 months ago I bought a 1985 Mustang and when I bought it the brake lights were not working. I tested the fuse and it was getting power but still no brake lights. Keep in mind everything else works, the turn signals, and the hazards. It’s just when I press the brake pedal I get no brake lights. But, I was able to find a Temporary fix. I was able to rewire my brake lights to my emergency flasher so they work for the mean time. But now I have a red wire running across my dash with no glove box. I’m assuming it’s not the switch because the brake lights do work when connected to the emergency flashers. I’m having a hard time trying to find what is causing this problem. Thanks in advance!

Check the switch on the brake pedal.

Aren’t the emergency flashers connect to the brake light switch? So if the switch was bad wouldn’t my brake lights not work at all even when they are connect to the emergency flashers?

I don't have a wiring diagram for that car. However logic dictates that if the brakes lights are not working when you step on the brake pedal but they are otherwise known to work, testing operation of the brake light switch is a good place to start.
