a friend of mine (mechanic) is selling his 1986 Ford tempo 2.0l diesel with 700000kms for $1000 (canadian) safetied, new body swap with cruise and power windows and locks. Is it worth buying? I drive an hour to work one way everyday and heard these cars do excellent on fuel, besides they have no power im interested in the fuel mileage. What's your input on these cars?

If that is your only transportation (and primary one at that), I would pass. It is 700,000 km (~434,000 miles) and 35 years old now. As a second or third vehicle to toy around with - maybe.
