Hey Ive got a 2001 Ford Mustang 3.8 V6. Cylinder 1 misfire detected. Changed the air filter fuel filter spark plugs and wires and still getting this code. Should i pay a mechanic to pressure clean my fuel injectors?
Thanks
If you had a shrader valve on your fuel rail it would be easy to determine.
Hook up a fuel gauge, turn the ignition to on. The Fuel pump would run up to pressure on the gauge.
Then turn the ignition off.
Then just pop the connection off of the #1 injector and put power and ground to that injector and if it opened the PSI reading on the gauge would go down as the injector opened and bled pressure off of the fuel rail.
But I don't think your V6 mustang has a shrader valve on the fuel rail
A good clue would be to run the car for a 1/2 a minute then pull the spark plug out of the #1 cylinder.
If it's not getting ignition (spark) but it's getting fuel, the plug will be slightly wet and "gassy" smelling.
If it's not getting any fuel but it's getting spark, the plug will be bone dry, no smell of gas.
But on a single cylinder misfire, I don't think I'd go to a clogged injector as a "first suspect".
If I'm not mistaken you don't have COP coils, you have a coil pack and with Ford's coil pack and playing the probabilities, I'd focus my attention there.
So an interesting, yet not entirely conclusive, experiment (wear gloves) is to, as the engine is running, slowly pull the #1 spark plug wire (in your case) out of the coil pack and slowly lift it above its coil tower.
The spark should jump out of the coil tower and arc with the spark plug wire.
If, as you pull the spark plug wire above the coil tower, the spark instead arcs within the coil socket, you have a short in the coil pack.
(Electricity is lazy)
Replace the coil pack.

Did you verify that you are getting good spark in cylinder 1?
Take a look at the misfire page in the FAQ
You have a cylinder 1 misfire which would be P0301. Is that the only code?
See our sticky under FAQ for other troubleshooting:

P0301 is the only code. It feels like it just wants to stall out so i was thinking a clogged fuel injector might be the cause.
then swap the injector with a good cylinder. All this is covered in the Frequently Asked Questions.
