1986 TBIRD V6 Not a turbo

We recently acquired a beautiful 1986 Thunderbird with just 25,000 miles.

Under the hood it is pristine and runs great.

#1. I understand those head gaskets are notorious for failing. What can we do to extend the life of the head gaskets?  Driving habits?   Or should we preemptively change out?

#2. Do we change the transmission fluid now or leave it alone? Or begin a regular maintenance program replacing it every 25 - 30,000 miles? Fluid looks good on the dip stick.

Thanks

I would change out the head gaskets now as they are likely old and brittle. Also, I'd swap out the fluids to start from a clean slate.

Kind of a pain, I know. But at the same time, at least you'll know the last time things were done and that nothing has been sitting in there for an extended amount of time. Nice car too.
