I am the original owner of an 88 LC and have changed the oil and maintained the truck somewhat religiously...like every 5k miles +/-. It has 150K miles on the clock.
Scotty swears by this ATS Carbon Clean and Gas Treatment. Should I give it a whirl?

It does seem to work well, and with the age/millage of your vehicle I would say go for it.
