My Good Car Dealership Experience

Hey Scotty, saw your video last night where you talked about someone who had a bad experience at a car dealership, well im here to say mention a good car dealership I went to. I bought a 2021 WRX in may last year from rafferty subaru near philly, had a great experience and they didnt rip me off on a new car. Since I watch your videos and also have other sources of car knowledge, I wasnt the easiest to pull any tricks on, but the salesman was very friendly and did not pressure me or try to sell me any extra bs. Love the car already have over 10k miles on it, quick little car with amazing handling. Love the videos and thanks for all you do

Good to hear at least one story about a car dealership that is good in the last ten years.  Now, all you have to look forward to is the service department nightmare.

Glad you mentioned that, Subaru mentioned a tire rotation with every oil change (6k miles). I thought this seemed excessive, so I said no thanks (I also put a pair of snow tires on it, they only had 2k at the time). But should I, personally, rotate the tires myself around every 6k miles? I was wondering if their symmetrical AWD needs it more than a FWD/RWD car

Even a broken clock is right 2x a day.

I do not trust dealerships with tire rotations. I do my own and use a torque wrench instead of an impact driver.  Matter of fact, I don't trust dealerships AT ALL.

The tire rotation is to keep the tires very close in diameter, I think they have to be some fraction of an inch the same to avoid damaging to the all wheel drive system. (Likewise if one tire is irreparably damaged you have to replace all four.) I'd be changing the oil and rotating the tires myself rather than paying stealership prices.

That’s good, but that was just to earn the sale.  Usually on the other side of it (i.e. after the sale) when you have to go in for maintenance, service and/or warranty work - that’s when they really get you.

I put small slits in the oil filter right before an oil change to make sure I get a new one XD
Yes ill look out for that stuff, thanks!

Sadly Sstories like this are pretty sad. I have had excellent experiences with Lancaster Mazda and Ventura Toyota.  The Mazda dealership has just changed ownership,  so who knows how they will be now.

What was the out-the-door price?

Around 34, I bought the wheel package and made sure the car was under full warranty for the length of time of my payments

not bad!

Thanks! first big purchase after college, I payed over 30K on a car I could barely drive (I forced myself to buy a manual and learned on it LOL)
