Hello! I’m going to buy a 2022 Subaru Impreza and wanted to know if anyone has had any issues with this car. For some background, I wanted a toyota or honda but my boyfriend really wanted awd so we settled on subaru specifically the impreza sedan cvt because I don’t drive manual and he doesn’t want another manual car. I’ve been looking into some issues this model has had before and i’m a little anxious getting it but it still seems like a very good option.

What is the question? You already said you are going to buy it. Get ready for major and expensive problems.  See below.

my question is if there’s any major issues with this model within the last 2-3 years that i should know about? I see a lot on the outback/crosstrek but not so much on other models.

I think it's a good choice for an AWD car.  Definitely a lot of functionality for the price.

People used to think of the Crosstrek as a lifted Impreza, which it is; now the Crosstrek has gotten so popular that it's more accurate to think of the Impreza as a lowered Crosstrek.  But either way, it's a solid car.  Should have better handling than the Crosstrek.  Just don't try to take it off-road like other Subarus.

Upside: Best AWD in the business - fantastic foul-weather commuter car.  And all Subaru technicians are familiar with the AWD, so you will get good service when you need it.  Overall reliability is above average (no, not Camry/Corolla level, but pretty good).  Maintenance and repairs are easy and cheap (easy to do your own maintenance and save $ if you want).  The weak point traditionally has been the Subaru CVT, but the current iteration is on par with CVT's from other manufacturers.

Downside: Don't tow with it (both because that will stress the drive train and because it's already slow just by itself).  Subarus generally are noisy, rough, and unrefined.  Definitely not luxury cars.

FWIW: Both my kids have Crosstreks (2017 with 60K miles; 2018 with 95K miles) and have had 0 issues.

I think you should cross-shop the new Toyota CorollaCross (or whatever they call it), which is very similar.  You'll probably be happy with either.  I suspect the biggest problem will be finding one because both Toyota and Subaru inventories are pretty bare.

Agreed entirely, Subaru's also don't get great gas mileage bc the AWD system. My WRX is noisy on the highway (seems like they dont have much sound proofing / padding) and has a rattle or two. But they're still making good cars, most manufactures have been declining over the years (including toyota). Kinda funny, my ex had a 2014 Corolla, its needed a good bit of work, meanwhile all ive done to my older higher millage Camaro was a water pump and the contacts on my coilpacks corroded. Toyotas and Hondas are gonna cost a good bit more also. Subarus are generally good cars.

If there are, you'll be the 1st to find out.

Anything from Honda or Toyota would be a much better choice.

Subaru used to be higher on my list when you could get many of their models with a manual. Don't care for them anymore

Go with a Honda or Toyota and you won't regret it. If you want sedan even the base Camry (LE) has an awd option. As for sedan there is the smaller size corolla cross which even though new model I would still trust it since it's a Toyota and built on the corolla platform. If a bigger suv then the rav4 is a good option.

You already said you're buying the car.  Why are you asking about it's reliability now instead of doing the research BEFORE you buy the car?
