Subaru engine reseal

Scotty, I have a 2016 Subaru Forester that was smelling of burnt oil and it only had 75,000 miles. The dealership had to remove the engine and “Re-Seal” to fix the issue. Should I keep the Forester or let it go?

In this market, it is worthwhile to fix most things, especially under 100,000 miles.  Did they tell you exactly what the problem is?  Is there anything else wrong with it?

Get rid of it as soon as is practically possible, while it's still running.  They put a chemical in it that will very temporarily fix the upcoming and very expensive repair.

What exactly did they do to "re-seal" it? It's possible it could have just been valve cover gaskets. I don't know if you have to pull the engine for that on those boxer engines but it would not surprise me.

You KNOW what they did @chucktobias!

@doc, I have a pretty good idea that another stealership has earned its name.

No doubt about it.
