Hey Scotty!!! I Love your Videos!!! How you teach people about cars is AWESOME!!!

QUESTION:
We are about to send our oldest off to College and he wants a Subaru Outback. We found one it's a 2015 2.5i Limited with 201,000 miles and 1 owner!!! The Carfax shows Oil Changes EVERY 5k miles!!! No accidents and looks new!! Are Subaru Outbacks a reliable vehicle for us to have faith in the brand and get it for our College Adolescent?

Please help Scotty!!!
I thought of you FIRST THING when I was wondering if they are reliable!!!

Price?

At 200K miles I would not trust that the CVT will last much longer, especially if it has not had regular fluid changes. (Cost to replace a Subaru CVT is in the area of $8000.)

It has too much milage on it.

Also CVT/DCT transmissions aren't good for new drivers, they're much easier to damage by incorrect use than a manual or a conventional automatic.

I'd try to find a late production 10th generation Corolla or a 3rd generation Mazda sedan (3/6).

I would pass on it, especially at that mileage.

Nothing short of a land cruiser is a sure thing over 200k. But if you get a good deal and it passes a mechanic inspection, could be ok.

Exactly. If you find one of those with 200,000 miles, buy it.

Find one prior to 2014 (CVT's introduced)
Other than that they are very nice imo
