Hello I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado ls with 116k miles and I went to my mechanic because I have a loud metal clanking sound coming from the drivers footwell my mechanic said I need tie rods and my pitman arm and idler arm I got my truck back the other day and the noise is still there so I asked if it could be my brake pedal bushing he replaced that to my old one was ok he said the grease was old so he replaced it with new but the sound is still there only hear the sound when I usually hit a bump but it’s not all the time in the morning the noise is not always there but after driving for maybe an hr the sound comes back I also sometimes feel it shaking in the steering wheel if the truck is really warmed up I don’t know what it is he also said that I could be the after market remote start box hitting the brake pedal but I check the box and it was secure by zip ties and doesn’t move. One I would start with another mechanic. He obviously doesn't know what he's doing and charged it for stuff that didn't fix it. Secondly, watch my video finding the source of car noises. Scotty. It's on YouTube. You can get a device like that and find the source of any noise and any good mechanic should have a device like that in the first place
@scottykilmer thank you Scotty so I went to two mechanic one I have been going to for years he said I think it’s your shocks it’s a Silverado it doesn’t have have shocks it should have leaf springs right. And ask me to shake the truck up and down and the we didn’t hear the sound. The new mechanic who did the work on of his techs said it could be a u joint but then the owner looked and said I need all the other parts so it did it not 100% sure it was needed it only felt hard to turn once but that’s it.
