In around 2000 I owned a 1988 Nissan Sentra automatic with 200,000 kms.
It would start fine. But try to put it in gear to drive away, it would stall. Same thing over and over.
But if I let it run for 10 or 15 minutes, then put it in gear it worked fine.
I sold the car for pennies. But I always wondered what was wrong with it.
What was likely wrong with the transmission?

Less likely the transmission. More likely it was related to the air fuel mixture ratio.

Most likely an intake leak
