Hi I have problems with 1990 ford f450 transmission. It's a dump truck. I got transmission rebuild by Monstertransmission.com and after i received it my mechanic installed transmission .We started truck and first thing I realized was my dash board lights didn't work (used to work before)i drove truck out of the shop and it was going in reverse (that was the issue before)and forward also park was not working before. So it looked like 👍 good job.So i drove it back to my home but transmission was not shifting gears it runs up to 60-70 miles but you don't feel shifting. So i went back and mechanic "forgot " to plug some electric clip right where the shifting linkage arm is on transmission and he said that will solve the problem. So i drove back home like 10-15 minutes away and same thing happened no shifting. Last mile before I reached my house truck was running hard like its under heavy load 😫 when I parked i saw transmission fluid under the truck spilled and 1 mile long behind it 😳 🙁
First I thought it leaked out on dip stick pipe because it was not secured after mechanic put it back in transmission but everything was dry around it and under it.So I checked the pan bolts and couple of them where really easy to unscrew. Monstertransmission.com did new treads so I think that was the problem.
So my questions are
1.What could be a problem that transmission is not shifting while driving but it goes fast (I forgot to mention that stop lights are not working as well)Can transmission shifting problem can be affected because electricity is not working properly?? Perhaps transmission is not getting electricity?
2.Besides the bolts 🔩 are there any other places where transmission can loose fluid like that??
3.Is transmission damaged because i drove it while its leaking fluid??
4. Speedometer was not connected by the mechanic (can I call him mechanic or butcher??) :silly:
I have 3 years warranty on this transmission .The reason why I am asking these questions before I started contacting and complaining about rebuild of my transmission i WANTED TO MAKE SURE that it's not something wrong actually on my side. I wish it is something wrong on my side because I don't want to go with transmission issues again and I believe it would be easier to fix issues on the truck than removing it and sending it back to rebuild or staff like that. Also I don't feel comfortable giving hard time and blaming others if it is fault on my end 😕 🙃 😪 😔 I will feel embarrassed 😞
Any help 🙏 would be greatly appreciated and I will pray 🙏 ❤ for you. Thank you
Yea, he did I bad job. I suspect he stabbed it wrong mating to engine. But you already identified (simple) mistakes, in no way would I believe the internals were rebuilt properly... and I wouldn't let the same person rebuild/replace it. Now there lays a problem for you. I'm sorry for giving you news you already suspect. But thanks for the Merry Christmas, and hopefully you will have one too? If your in Kentucky, I can make a recommendation of a great trans mech.
Will transmission shifts without speedometer or not??
Speedometer on dash yes. But there are input and output shaft rpm(speed) sensors that won't if bad.
Hi Billy. I was busy with work and I didn't have time for transmission to do something further. Last week I was off and I replaced transmission cooler and I add new fluid (I just put 6 quarts)and I turned the engine on and as soon as engine was running leak started {black}:scared: its not pan or bolts. Its coming from the front of the transmission where meets with the engine. Through the hole where mechanic was turning torque converter. Do you know what is wrong before I find another "honest " shop??I don't want them to rip me off and give me bunch of stories 😔. Thank you
Yea, 99% it was stabbed and/or not spaced correctly thus damaging pump/ seals etc. Also the flywheel needs to be checked for warpage, common issue and often overlooked.
Wow, what a shame. Transmission needs to be sent to Monster for possible warranty.
I'd talk to the rebuilder and tell them what happened. When they get the transmission they will tear down and will quickly be able to see the damage and what caused it.
Cut your loses and frustration with that "mechanic"...don't go back there.
I wouldn't trust any of the work he did. I'm wondering what else he failed to do.
When you get it back from being rebuilt, don't forget to have the transmission cooler and it's lines flushed...removes all the debris. Hopefully you had that done this time also...that will need to be noted on your receipt for warranty.
Will transmission shifts without speedometer or not??I am not mechanic but for me make sense that transmission shifts when speed sensor sends information about how fast its running. Or perhaps transmission will shift even without speed sensor??Could the pressure was built because transmission was not shifting and fluid had to come out somewhere? Thanks
