"Swapping a 305 for a 350 in My '91 Silverado—Do I Need a New ECM?"

Hey Scotty, longtime fan and grateful for all the wisdom you share! I’ve got a 1991 Chevy Silverado 4x4 extended cab with a full bed and automatic transmission. The original 305 motor is blown, and I’d love to swap in a 350 someday. Will I need a new computer module (ECM) for the 350 swap, or can I reuse or reprogram the one from the 305?

Also, I’m currently in need of a dependable, low-cost vehicle to get around while I work on the Silverado. Any recommendations for solid used cars or trucks that won’t break the bank but can still handle rural roads and daily driving?

Thanks for all you do—your advice helps folks like me stay on the road and keep our dreams alive!
