1991 F150 5.0 High idle

Got a 1991 f150 5.0 liter v8 when you
start it cold will run about 2000 rpms
once its warmed up it runs at 2500 to
3000 rpms as soon as you put it in
drive it drops down to 1500 rpms any
ideas?

Clean the idle air control valve (IAC).

Sounds like the Idle Air Control Valve is sticking or just plain bad.

But, if you have a plastic PCV valve, make sure that the bottom hasn't broken off and the spring and plunger haven't fallen out creating a large vacuum leak.

If it turns out to be a bad IAC, please, by all means replace it with a factory OEM part.
