Scotty,

I have a 1993 Suzuki sidekick JX 4door 4wd manual. I bought it with 144k miles. The car runs great but I’m having some concerns. 1st is a took it in to get inspected and the mechanics saw there was an opening on top of the transmission case, there was low transmission gear oil so I filled it up but they did not know why there was an opening any ideas? 2nd my cv joint boot is gone completely on my outter axle. Do you think I need to replace the axle or can I just replace the boot. There are other questions I have but I’ll limit it to two. Thank you so much, looking forward to hear from you.

Well it shouldn't be an open in the top I hope it's not cracked if the case is cracked you'll need a new transmission realize the Suzuki's are pretty cheap we made vehicles I would not put a bunch of money into one. As long as it runs so I would just drive until the wheels fall off cuz they are pretty junky and they don't last that long I would not keep throwing money into that thing

Thanks for the reply Scotty,

I purchased it a few months ago for 3k and since then I put a new cat on and FPR. The car runs great. But there are a few problems. Takes a few cranks to start it and that only just occurred so I’m guessing it needs a new fuel pump and fuel filter. I had the pressure tested and was told it’s only putting out 18 psi for the fuel pump. For the transmission I don’t see any cracks but there is a hole (or opening)I’ll need to further inspect it. What do you think about the cv joint boot?

thanks,

Also, the temp gauge keeps going up and down. Meaning when I drive it the temp gauge will hit the middle marker but if it’s idling for awhile it will slowly creep towards the H. I replaced the thermostat but I was wondering if It could be the gasket isn’t fitted properly. Hoping you have an idea. Thanks again.
